Mission
The mission of Shenandoah Valley Equality is to build inclusive community for LGBTQ people in the Shenandoah Valley.
Services
SVE hosts events for the community to participate in as well as spreading awareness. SVE puts out a monthly newsletter of LGBTQ+ related news and a schedule of their activities. They also provide a list of affirming religious communities in the area.
Who we primarily serve
LGBTQIAP+ individuals in the Shenandoah Valley Area
Activities
Conversation & Cuisine
Once a month, SVE members (and their friends) are invited to meet for dinner at a local restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley, to share a meal together and enjoy each other’s company. Each person pays for their own meal at the restaurant.
Monthly Friday Potluck
Every month (usually the first Friday) we host a potluck in a community member’s home (the location rotates each month). Everyone who attends is asked to bring a dish of food to share. We are always happy to have more volunteers host the potluck. Please email us if you are willing to host.
Quarterly Breakfast
Four times a year, SVE members (and their friends) are invited to meet at a local eatery in the Valley for coffee, breakfast, and catching up with the community (each person pays for their own).
Annual Shenandoah Valley Equality “Town Hall” Forum
Every year, we host a forum so members of our community can learn about state and national issues affecting the LGBTQ community, including legislation that is likely to be introduced to the Virginia General Assembly, and how we can best advocate for equality.
Teen/Family Opportunities
We provide information on religious communities in the valley, an inclusive community. 18 year olds are able to join the Shenandoah Valley Equality
Family members are welcome to attend conversation and cuisine events with their LGBTQIAP+ teen as well as any forums to learn about the community.
Unique Information
