About IIHHS
Founded in 2003, the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) is a community-engaged center of learning, scholarship, and mutual support between James Madison University and the community of Harrisonburg, surrounding counties, and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. IIHHS has more than 28 programs and is housed within JMU’s College of Health and Behavioral Studies. Our programs strive to build on the strengths of our community and step into the gaps in a way that helps all of our members thrive. For more than 15 years IIHHS has been living the JMU three-pronged vision for an engaged university: Engaged Learning and Scholarship, Community Engagement, and Civic Engagement.
About The Teen Health Fair
The IIHHS Teen Health Fair has gone Virtual this year! The Teen Health Fair aims to provide teens in the Harrisonburg area with community resources aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle. The Teen Health Fair takes a holistic approach to health which means that the dimensions of health represented include emotional, social, physical, financial, occupational, environmental, and spiritual.
The Event
The Virtual Teen Health Fair is an all day online event on April 27th, 2020. In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak,, the Teen Health Fair that would generally occur at Harrisonburg High School will now occur on our IIHHS Virtual Teen Health Fair Facebook Page. The event will be a series of watch parties for students to view throughout the day from 9am to 5pm about the different local agencies. Each agency will have a ten minute video explaining their services for teens and any other information that could be pertinent to the wellbeing of students. The watch parties will allow students to comment questions in real time for the agency and their peers to answer. Students are welcomed to ask questions on the page throughout the day as well as in the future.
